The Season of Giving

This  is the season of giving so let us get few things out there for you consideration. Although this is not something of public knowledge, and the benefactors prefer to remain to remain anonymous we think it should be mentioned. Surfcaster’s Journal has awarded many Wounded Warrior Project members with complimentary subscriptions to the magazine in 2013. In addition, we also awarded  all the members of the Ward Melville High School Fishing Club a membership too. If you know of any high school fishing clubs in your area, please drop us a line at info@surfcastersjournal.com with contact information. We  are always interested in helping our young ones improve their surf fishing skills. Ok, enough about us, on to more important stuff. Two things for your consideration santa (145 of 168)_1

Members of the Striper Surf Club would like to thank everyone who came out on a cold rainy Friday night for our Annual Holiday Pint Fling at the “Helm” in Freeport. (Even the local bar flies joined in on our raffles) As you may remember last year’s Pint Fling was cancelled due to Super Storm Sandy. The “Anchor” bar, a.k.a. Alice’s was under water last year and never re-opened. Freeport’s “The Helm” was also nearly destroyed with over 4 feet of water that destroyed much of the bar and surrounding area. The owners did not have any flood insurance but with determination, blood, sweat and tears they put her back together just in time for this year’s Pint Fling.

Because of your generosity we were able to fill two HUGE boxes of new toys for LIBBA’s Operation Holiday Spirit. Members of LIBBA (Long Island Beach Buggy Association) will be distributing these toys to children in need and to those who will be spending their days in the hospital during the Holiday season.

We would also like to thank our most generous sponsors who donated some great prizes and raffles: If missed anyone please let me know!
