Hook Sharpening with Dave Anderson
Obviously sharpening hooks is probably done best at home with a good sharpening tool but Dave has a suggestion how to touch them up quickly on the beach

Had trouble with dull hooks a couple weeks ago lost two nice fish I did put a file in the truck but I’m definitely putting some sand paper in there also thanks
↓I’m a goldsmith, and I am used to sharpening engraving tools. They, and my hooks, aren’t really sharp unless they won’t skid on a fingernail. They should stick when you try to slide them across your nail with very little pressure. If they slip or skid, they just aren’t sharp enough. I like to use a 120 grit stone on my hooks, especially on the water. A file is great at home, but they don’t last very long when exposed to water.
