when we tell you we test crap, we really test the crap out of the products.
Not only is GoPro camera the smallest darn video camera we ever used but the footage is recorded in stunning 1080…from a camera that fits in a palm of your hand!!!
When you get a chance, go to www.gopro.com and check videos made by go pro camera….waterproof with a very heavy plastic enclosure, it will open up another world to many budding videographers.
Just don’t be hiding this in the ladies room in Montauk lot.
The only thing I found hard with it was that its file, although MP4 was incompatible with my Corel Video software so i had to convert all the files, which only took about 20 hours while I was sleeping mostly…lol
Seriously dudes and dudets, I would estimate for every minute of video you see on SJ it takes at least an hour to edit and 16 gray hairs per every minute of video
So you guys can be amused for a minute…aren’t you lucky ?
This particular video took much, much longer because I wanted you to get a feel for the camera
This video is not about the place, or fish, or swim, but instead I wanted you to see many uses for the camera in different environments
Keep in mind that I bought this camera a day before going on this trip …… learning on the fly is the way we roll

From our friends at NY Office of Coastal Conservation Association (http://www.joincca.org/)
Commercial increase still threatens striped bass
On July 21, the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission held a hearing at the DEC offices in East Setauket, with respect to a proposal that would increase the coastal commercial quota of striped bass. It is a controversial topic, and one made even more controversial by the fact that the proposal is based on neither biology nor economics.
Currently, the population of adult striped bass is in a state of decline. Due to some instances of low spawning success in the producer areas, the population of adult (age 8+) striped bass is expected to decline at least through 2015 (and beyond, should spawning success decline further). The decline is already being reflected in angling catch, which fell by more than 65% in just 4 years, between 2006 and 2009 (preliminary harvest estimates for April-June of this year indicate that a further decline has taken place). just a quick update on our Catch and Release ContestJunior Category sponsored by folks from Tsunami.
After some consultation amongst us at Surfcaster’s Journal, we have decided to make all surf caught saltwater species eligible for this fantastic prize. So if you have a picture of your child with a snapper, striper, triggerfish, porgy or dare I say giant tarpon, send it to us at info@surfcastersjounal.com.
Yes, you can send any picture that you took of your child during during and summer of this year, and of course, any picture going forward as long as the fish was released
Good luck and remember, the best memories are the ones you make with your kids.
